Super Easy Elf on the Shelf Hacks Every Parent Needs to Know
2 Super Easy Elf on the Shelf Hacks
This is my third year of doing the Elf on the Shelf and I just realized the biggest life saving hack that every parent needs to know about. The creator of this elf probably didn’t realize quite how big of a deal these elves were going to be – they cause trouble, they bring gifts, they make messes… the list goes on. But something the manufacturer did not make them do – they did not make them bend. Well, I have an amazing, and very easy hack for that. In no time flat and for less than five dollars your Elf on the Shelf will have arms and legs that bend and allow him/her to sit unassisted and to grasp on to items. The best part- no sewing is required!
You’ll need a few items to make this work. The first, is obviously the Elf on the Shelf (if you don’t have one, you can buy one HERE), the second is floral wire (I used 28 gage, but others would work, too), scissors, and velcro circles. I was able to get the wire and velcro for less than five dollars at Michaels.
Step one is to cut the wire and make lay flat/straight. Cut enough for two arms and two legs. Then you’ll slowly, fish the wire into the Elf on the Shelf’s arms and legs.
After you’ve fished the wire into the Elf on the Shelfs arms and legs, make sure that you cut it so that no wire is sticking out.
The next step is to apply the velcro to each of the Elf on the Shelfs hands. This will allow you to hand the elf from different items (I’ve seen some really cute pictures of an Elf on the Shelf zip line that I’m looking into doing).
Now that you know these amazing, easy and inexpensive Elf on the Shelf hacks, you’ll be able to help your own Elf on the Shelf to cause even more trouble in your home! These Elf on the Shelf hacks that every parent needs to know are so worth the few minutes it takes to update your elf!
