Cold Weather Indoor Activities Roundup

I’m from Chicago, and in March, in Chicago, it’s typically snowy, cold, and awful.  Most years, I want to pull my hair out at the end of each weekend, because I’m out of ideas to keep my kids busy indoors.  I’ve gathered a few of my absolute favorite ways to keep my kids entertained indoors to share with you – us moms have to stick together here, right? Check out the awesome indoor activities for kids that are easy, inexpensive, and sure to keep your kids entertained!

Some of these are activities that require some prep work, but at least your kids will be happily entertained after your hard work.  I know, I know, who has time for prep work, right? Well, if your kids are busy, and entertained, at least they’re keeping the destruction to one room of your house, right?

So here it goes…

Paper Plate Ring Toss… The first indoor activity I decided to try with my kids this year – it was a huge hit! Thank you so much to From ABC’s to ACT’s for this awesome tutorial on paper plate ring toss! What a fun game to keep your kids happy and busy during the cold, dreary, dead of winter.  You can find the tutorial HERE.

This indoor activity requires a little more hands on playtime with your kids than the last one, but, even teenagers love this Easy Glitter Slime.  It’s only got a few ingredients (most of which you probably already have in your house somewhere), doesn’t take much time, and will provide your kids with hours of fun! You can find the step by step instructions HERE – thanks Typical Mom!

This game probably requires the least amount of parental effort in set up (I know, I know, you’re thinking, FINALLY!) but… it might require you to be a referee, that is, if your kids are anything like mine.  Balloon Tennis is likely to give your kids a wave of excitement that you haven’t seen in weeks- I mean, they actually get to hit a “ball” (well, it’s really a balloon) in the house! The supplies for this game are easily found at the dollar store, and this game will get your kids up and running around the house burning all that pent up energy.  You can find more about Balloon Tennis HERE.

These are some of my favorite winter indoor activities for my kids – I hope your kids enjoy them too… and maybe you can even relax for five minutes!
